Merry Christmas
Christmas. So fun, so tiring, and we are so blessed. And spoiled. :) Our family seems to get bigger every year...and we grow in numbers too. Hehe. I think I just ate my weight in turkey, mashed potatoes, and chocolatey goodness. Pretty sweet. We did "high/lows" at dinner the last two nights. What are high/lows? Ridiculous. Ridiculous, touchy feeliness inspired by my oldest cousin. But we went with it. My high today? Well, it would definitely be watching my sister open and burrow into an XL longsleeve shirt from one of my grandmothers. My sister is a size medium at best. Needless to say she receives one of these XL numbers every year from our grandma. My brother-in-law, on the other hand received a nice, hooded zip-up sweatshirt...in size medium. He's 6'6'' and looked great zipped up in that thing with it's 3/4 length sleeves. Hehe. It's the thought that counts, and she really is always very thoughtful. My low? Going to bed at almost 3:00am this morning and getting up at 7:30ish. For those who know me, I don't do well with limited sleep. I haven't been too grumpy yet today, but I'm working on it. It's almost 10:00, so I'm pretty sure I'm within legal sleeping limits, but there's a ping pong tournament currently going on in the same room my bed is in. I might have to go dominate it so I can kick everyone out. :-P

Lights Out
It's sill snowing and sleeting. One of the outcomes of all this weather was loosing our electricity last night. It's too bad Ross and I are such great conversationalists. The lights went out a little before 7:00PM and we made it to about 8:00 before we finally decided sitting in silence, in the dark and looking out the window at more dark wasn't as productive as sleeping. I'll grant Ross a little leeway considering he was up just after 4:00AM the last two mornings. I have no excuse. I was just bored. I tried reading by flashlight for a little while, but gave up by about 8:30. We're an exciting bunch.
Ross says I'm going to get burnt out on my blog because I post stuff so often. Sounds like a challenge to me. Not that I'm competitive...at all...Although, I bet I can finish writing this sentence before you can finish reading it. Ha. I win.

Duck hunting...those wascally wabits
Duck hunting with Ross. Wake up call 4:21 AM (every minute of sleep counts). Get dressed: tall thick socks, running tights, running pants, tank top, under armor long sleeve shirt, long sleeve dri-fit shirt, long sleeve fleecy shirt, sweat shirt, gloves and a stocking hat. (Don't worry, I still had three more layers to add once we got there: waders, rain gear, and camouflage.) Two cars and a 45min drive in the snow. Park one car, get in the other and prepare to drive a little farther. Still snowing. Drive a little more. Snowing. Come to the conclusion that we probably won't be able to get the car out of the parking lot if we leave it any longer. Still snowing. Turn around. Pick up the car. Drive home. Take off two layers. Go back to sleep.
I think I'm pretty good at this duck hunting thing.

RAndoM ThOuGHts
I am a little over hydrated at the moment, but I'm too lazy to actually get up and take care of the "problem," so I am trying to sweat it out. I'm not sure if that really works, but I do know that it is giving me fleeting feelings of nausea. Right, so focus on something else.
Snow. It actually did snow last night. We had a real snow day today. That makes two out of five, that's like 40%. No, I didn't come up with that number on my own. I used a calculator. I'm not very smart, but in PE terms, it's like if you have a dodgeball...coneball team (we're not allowed to play the "D" word) with ten people on it, and the four fat girls get out...(this is my blog, I don't have to beat around the bush) then that's kind of like the number of times the district gives us a snow day on an actual snow day rather than on a rain day or a cold day.
Wow, not only do I need to pee, but apparently I also have diarrhea of the mouth. (That's for you, Mom.)
I better go...

Rain day?
I think our school district just cancelled school because it was raining outside. I think. It was either that or because my fellow conspirator (aka co-worker) did a really convincing snow dance last night. Maybe it snowed in the hills. Who am I to judge? One thing is for sure, it didn't even pretend to snow in the vicinity of our school. I'm not complaining. I'm just pointing out that our district is upholding its reputation of being ridiculous. That's how we roll.

Snow Day...Days
Snow day! I sometimes wonder who gets more excited, the students or the teachers? Certainly not the parents. Three snow days in a row? It's a Christmas miracle. What to do with a snow day? Sleep in? Not likely. This is like the gift of time, something everyone could use more of around the holidays. The challenge is to pack in as many of those loose ends as possible. For example: yesterday I woke up at 7:20, made myself and The Boy breakfast, made The Boy lunch, made some coffee, took a shower, cleaned up around the house, went to Joes (formerly G.I. Joes) and Pier1, went for almost an hour run on a treadmill - miserable, showered again, went home, took care of the dog, ate lunch, went to my alma mater to bring cookies to my coaches and a friend, went downtown to pick up some gifts at the soap store and TJ Max, went to the post office, the grocery store, and another friend's to drop off more cookies, came home, unloaded groceries, made dinner, cleaned up, wrapped some gifts, made some recruiting calls, and finally sat down to watch a little TV. Whew, makes me tired just writing it. Oh yeah, and I drove really really slooooooow everywhere I went. It was a little icy, but not as bad as the day before. The fun part was trying to walk. I gave everyone a little show when I hit the pavement in my running shoes. (I have never claimed to be a genius.) Running shoes are comfortable but lack this little thing called traction. I came close to landing on my butt on more than one occasion. I'm not against creating a little entertainment for those around me. :)
Today the plan is to take care of stuff around the house, and to watch the dog drool himself into a fit of contented delirium over his new chew toy. I think he has OCD. I've never seen him as focused as he is on this bone, but the amount of saliva...it's unreal.

It's not everyday you get to start something with a blank slate. This is my blank slate. I should start with something profound, witty, or uncharacteristically solemn, but all I can think of is, "In West Philadelphia born and raised, on the playground is where I spent most of my days..." I suppose it's as good a start as any. Unfortunately, I was born in West Po-Dunk and raised just a little north of there. I spent most of my days in the woods or on an over stuffed chair reading about being in the woods.
Reality isn't all that interesting, so I'll supplement where necessary.
