I'm leaving today for a six day cross-country camp in Southern Oregon at the Box R Ranch. I'm half looking forward to it and half dreading it. I'm a homebody. Six days away from the comforts of home is kind of daunting. The running should be terrific, and it will be a great opportunity to train on the trails I'll be racing on for the S.O.B. On the other hand it's hanging out with teenagers for six days - wasn't summer break created as a way for teachers to escape their students?...Maybe not. I'm sure they'll be a different breed of teenagers than those I have in class. This group is choosing to run. That alone sets them apart. I'm sure it will be a good week. I just need to get there. While I'm there, I won't be here...on the blog that is. Not that I've been real regular lately anyway...at blogging. Try not to miss this too much.
Peace Out.

For dad
School's out for the summer. Have I mentioned that? Have I mentioned that I haven't had to work in a week and a half? Oh yeah, now I remember why I teach. :)
Too celebrate Father's day and to help my parents around their place, we went to RR for the weekend. Oh. Wait. Stop. I need to interrupt this previously scheduled program to write a Father's Day poem for my old man.
Ahem.
Father.
A scent of sawdust follows you.
Toothpicks are no match for you.
HiLARRYous
Everyone else stinks. :)
Real deal Dad.
Happy Father's Day.

It's been a while
I haven't blogged for like a week, so I felt it was my duty to post something. Anything. So here you go:
Ross doesn't like this picture, but I do. And it's my blog. So I can do what I want.

A few things
1) There is exactly one week left before I am officially on vacation (unofficially I've been on vacation since last Tuesday).
2) Yesterday was June 9th, and the heat was still on in my house.
3) If I hear the phrase "hell a," as in that was hell a messed up or that is hell a cool, one more time before school ends, I might have a breakdown. I don't care if you think it is a "bad word" or not; it is trashy, bad English, and I don't like it. Somehow high schoolers don't think I make a very valid argument. I think they're all dumb.
The end.

It's a Date
Sooooooooo. Not to rush into things or anything, but Ross and I have set the date for August 7th. This August 7th. What do you mean I can't plan a wedding in two months? That should be plenty of time. Never mind that I'll be gone for a week to a cross country camp. I'll be training for and running an ultra marathon, and I'll be doing a two day relay from Diamond lake to Bend. No big deal. We can throw a wedding into the mix. Really, who needs to worry about the details? We have the basics covered: Bride - check, groom - check, location - check, ice cream - check. Yup, looks like we've got things covered. By the way, here's a picture of my ring. It's way prettier in person, but you get the idea:

And of course I couldn't leave you without one of these: (Have I mentioned that I love this little boy and yes, he is absolutely the cutest thing on the planet.)
