Hello Muscles
Meat Mr. Muscles, and I do mean meat as opposed to meet. Mr. Muscles is actually nicknamed Meat for Meat Head, and he wears that title with pride. I mean it. He had a shirt made and everything. If you think I'm messing with you, come to work with me sometime, and I'll make the introductions. Meat is typically a good kid. He's a little...how should I say this...enamored with himself, but he's a teenage boy just past puberty so that's not altogether shocking. Meat, however, takes it to the next level by: a) constantly working out, b) shaving his arms because "it makes my muscles stand out more," c) wearing sleeveless shirts tucked into his short shorts, d) constantly finding ways to show off his physical prowess in front of an audience, and e) frequently posing and checking out his reflection.
We think Meat might be taking "supplements." He has frequent bouts of 'roid rage. Take today for example. We were stretching as a class. Meat wasn't stretching. I said, "Meat stretch!" Meat stands there. We start our next stretch. I say, "Meat stretch!" Meat stalks off, refusing to stretch. My co-star confronts him, he refuses to participate. He punches the garbage can knocking it over and its contents onto the ground - a nice little display to get the class's attention so they'll know he's real angry. She tells him to pick it up. He turns a lovely shade of burnt sienna, and asks if she's going to make him - challenging her, and tells her she can write him up. She does. He high tales it to the weight room to "burn off some steam" I suppose.
The weights teacher made him come back out at the end of class to clean up his mess. But tell me, Meat Head, did you really not want to stretch, or were you trying to impress the cute girl in the corner? I'll let you in on a little secret: Nobody was impressed by your little temper tantrum. Now the way to impress a girl isn't just by having huge muscles. It takes some personality to go along with them. Good luck.

Dog Days
School is out for the weekend! Hallelujah! :) Ross and I took Youk to St. Louis Ponds, a place with lots of room to run and lots of ponds (duh). Ross has been making some serious progress with the turd-brain and his retrieving skills. Here we practiced land retrieves, water retrieves, and land retrieves where he had to cross an entire pond to make the retrieve then swim it back.
Shake it out, Youk!

Winding down
The school year is almost over. This week it became most obvious. We have less than a month to go, and our seniors graduate in just two weeks. They are ready to get out. We are ready for them to leave.
The sun is out. Absenteeism has risen (for both students and staff). Fights are happening at more frequent intervals. My shorts and t-shirt tan lines are becoming more pronounced, our classes seem to be taking a turn towards out of control (not quite there yet; just trying to hang on for three and a half more weeks), and I have an unquenchable desire for fresh strawberries, watermelon, and ice cream.
Summer is definitely almost here.

Too much fun, there's no such thing...
Mama Joe and I ran a half marathon together at the Iris Festival in Keizer today. It was a smaller race where, let's just say, nobody was vying for a position at the start. In fact, Mom and I could barely get anyone to join us on the start line. They all just spread out behind us. Maybe I should have showered this week... :)

I made my race shirt.

I think she liked it.
Most of the course was on country roads. Pretty nice scenery as it was, but not many of the Iris's were in bloom yet because of the lack of warm-weather we've had so far this spring.
No, that's not my mom. Sorry for any confusion. That's Ross. He volunteered to be part of the safety patrol on the race course. He got to wear a sweet orange vest and everything. Then he ate an enormous Kielbasa sausage with lots of onions and sauerkraut. Mmmmmm, makes me want to vomit just thinking about it.
Mama Joe won the women's race. Not just her age group. She beat the whole field of women. We were trying to get in under 1:40, but her official finishing time was 1:40.01. So close. Here she is accepting her award ($50 to a running store. Nice!)

Here I am challenging the audience to a Ho-Down...

Eugene Half Marathon
This is one of my favorite pictures from the Eugene Half Marathon that I ran in about two weeks ago. My sis took this picture of my high school coach (middle), our friend CB, and myself. Besides being closer to the padres, I sometimes wish I lived closer to Grants Pass so I could run with these guys on a regular basis. They're fun to be around and are about as competitive as I am. That's my story.

Stay At Home Mom Say What?
Can I be a stay at home? I don't want the mom part, I just want the stay at home part. It sounds nice. I am collecting too many hobbies to have time to work. I think working might be overrated, except for the part where it funds my hobbies. I need a sugar daddy. (That's a joke, Ross - don't get your panties in a bunch.) My co-star got to stay home today with her baby girl. I was kind of jealous for a second, then I remembered how much sleep she didn't get Sunday night and thought she can have her day off work and her four hours of sleep too. Suddenly PE with seventy hormonal teenagers seemed a lot more appealing. We played bump in basketball. I lost repeatedly and without a shred of dignity. We played soccer, and I fell on my face. I made them run, and it was good.

Bagels, bagels everywhere.
This is how I made bagels the other day.

First I went to this website: http://smittenkitchen.com/
Then I went to this recipe on the smitten kitchen website: Peter Reinharts Bagels
After that I made a sponge:

Oops, I meant I made a sponge:
After it sat, I used it to make the dough.
Then I rolled it...
Then I pinched it and pulled it, and they started looking bagelish.
So then I took some peeps...
...and I bit their ears off!
If you make these bagels, you must bite the ears off some peeps. Trust me.
I boiled my bagels.
I poured some seeds on the suckers.
Then I baked them and magic happened.
They were yummy, chewy, wonderfulness. So I made them again.

Ummmmm
I don't really have anything interesting or witty to blog about - par for the course, right? Don't answer that. Anyway, I was tired of seeing the same post up for a week so I thought I'd better write something quick. I have a blog in the works, but the pictures are on my home computer. I really need those pictures. Sure wish I was home and my computer was at school. Hmmmmm. How many school days do we have left? I'll tell you, we have exactly thirty days counting today. Don't hate me because I have summers off. Hate me because I'm six feet tall.
Peace out.
Peace out.
